Can-Am Lacrosse League History
The original Can-Am lacrosse league was founded in 1969 and was called the North American Lacrosse Association (A Native American League). The league lasted until 1976. In 1978 the Can-Am Lacrosse League formed in 1978 with 2 divisions. The eastern division consisted of Montreal, Cornwall, Akewsasne & Caugnnawga, the west with Niagara, Syracuse, Newtown & Oshweken. Today the Can-Am Lacrosse League is composed of 8 teams from Canada and the United States. Each year the teams compete for the league championship the Can-Am Cup. The winner of the Can-Am gets the chance to compete in the Presidents Cup. The Presidents Cup is the championship tournament of Senior B Lacrosse.
